City of Perth Triathlon – State Olympic Distance Championship
Welcome to Race 3 of the Telstra Triathlon Series, the City of Perth Triathlon, the premier Olympic Distance Triathlon on the Triathlon WA Calendar of events. The City of Perth Triathlon is the State Triathlon Championship for Age Group and Elite Competitors.
The 2012 Event has a NEW transition, swim course and run course. The transition is on the Riverside Park on the Western Side of Barrack Street Jetty (where the Ferris Wheel once stood).The SWIM will be a deep water start, with a triangular swim course heading out towards the Narrows Bridge before returning to the beach adjacent to the transition on Riverside Park. The cycle is the classic course on Riverside Drive and Mounts Bay Road to the University of WA and back to the City. The RUN takes in the scenic path along the Swan River towards the Swan Brewery before returning to the specular finish line with the City of Perth as a back drop!

Event Location: Barrack Square/Riverside Park, on the western side of Barrack Street Jetty, Perth
Parking: Parking is available in the City of Perth Car park on the corner of Governors Avenue and Victoria Avenue and the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre Carpark. There is also street parking available along Terrace Rd and Esplanade Road. At no time is parking permitted at Barrack Street Jetty.

HOT! Weather Conditions
The temperature for Sunday is forecast to be about 40 degrees, with this in mind TriEvents will be taking some extra measures for the Bikesure Pursuit Olympic Distance to make it that bit more pleasant! We will be adding additonal resources including:
- An additional Aid Station on the course (3 per lap)
- Shotz Electrolyte drink on the course and in recovery
- Ice on the course and in recovery
- Misting fans and ice baths in recovery

Please Note: Minimum Ages for each Event
Bikesure Pursuit Olympic Distance Race - Minimum Age 15 yrs as of 31/12/2011 (if you turn 15 in January you will be unable to compete in this race);
There will be no U16 State Championship Title at the City of Perth Race, 15 year old participants will be moved up to the 16 - 19 category for this race; if a 15 year old finishes in the top 3 in the 16-19 category then they will receive the 16-19 medal.
14 yr old participants will only have the option of racing in the enticer at the Perth Race.

Swim:
Both the swims commence west of Barrack Square infront of Riverside Drive..
Enticer 250 metres – deep water start, loop in a clockwise direction - swim out in a SW direction, turn right at a buoy, swim NW to a buoy, turn right and swim NE to the swim exit steps.
Olympic Distance: deep water start, triangular loop in a clockwise direction – swim out in a SW direction, turn right at a buoy, swim west to a buoy, turn right and swim NE to the swim exit steps.
Ride:
Starting at Barrack Square, turn left into Riverside Drive and head in a westerly direction under the Narrows Bridge and merge left into Mounts Bay Rd. Follow Mounts Bay Rd around to the turnaround at Hackett Drive. Head back along Mounts Bay Rd through the Point Lewis Roundabout and into Riverside Drive and continue to the Victoria Ave turnaround to head back to Barrack Square to complete the lap. The course is 10km per lap. Enticer competitor complete 1 lap, and Olympic Distance competitors complete 4 laps.
Run:
Enticer: Exit transition onto the foot path that runs alongside Riverside Drive, turn left to head towards the Causeway, continue to a turnaround point at the Point Lewis Roundabout and turnaround and head back towards Barrack Square, enter the finish chute to complete the event. Enticer athletes complete 1 lap
Pursuit Olympic Distance (10km) The course consists of two 5km laps. Exit transition onto the foot path that runs alongside Riverside Drive, head west and continue on the path running alongside Mounts Bay Road past the Old Swan Brewery to a turnaround point, head back to Barrack Square, turnaround and head back west towards Mounts Bay Rd to complete the same lap along the footpath before turning around east once again to compete the course. Once you’ve completed two laps enter the finish chute to finish the event.
